LATTICE AND LOOM
Location : Bangalore | Status : Completed
Tucked away in the vibrant lanes of South Bangalore, this thoughtfully designed 2400 sq. ft. residence is home to a young family of three, recently returned to India after years in the United States. Their journey back home was more than just geographical—it was emotional, rooted in a desire to reconnect with their cultural identity while embracing the ease and openness of their global lifestyle.
The design of the home reflects this sentiment, striking a harmonious balance between nostalgia and modern sensibility. A breezy, minimal layout ensures seamless flow and functionality, tailored to the family's daily rhythms. At the heart of the home, grey limewashed walls offer a tranquil, understated backdrop—softly textured and grounding, they allow curated elements to come alive without overwhelming the senses.
Traditional Indian touches are reinterpreted with restraint and elegance. Intricately patterned motif tiles add bursts of visual interest, echoing artisanal craftsmanship, while handpicked Indian textiles—rich in texture but muted in tone—bring warmth and familiarity. The furniture and built-in elements, crafted in warm-toned wood, layer in comfort and character, lending a timeless quality to the space.
The kitchen, rendered in a soothing sage green, becomes a visual anchor—modern yet earthy, understated yet expressive. Its color palette complements the home’s overall warmth, while introducing a gentle vibrancy that ties the material story together.
Every corner of the house has been designed with a sense of quiet sophistication—celebrating the beauty of simplicity, authenticity, and cultural resonance. The result is a home that doesn’t just house memories, but creates space for new ones—deeply personal, effortlessly elegant, and distinctly Indian in a modern way.
